Bungie Working On Destiny 2 Solar Subclass Buffs, Arriving Next Season

Bungie Working On Destiny 2 Solar Subclass Buffs, Arriving Next Season

Bungie’s weekly blog post has revealed that the studio is working on many class upgrades right before the next season of Destiny 2. For the Season of Dawn, which begins on December 10, Bungie is reworking three Solar subclasses- Titan’s Code of the Devastator, Hunter’s Way of the Sharpshooter, and Warlock’s Attunement of Sky. All of these subclasses will get some new perks as well as QoL improvements for old perks.

Way of the Sharpshooter

Way of the Sharpshooter is one of the Hunter’s most useful classes for activities and raids. However, Guardians need to use the Celestial Nighthawk Exotic helm. The reworked subclass will be quite useful outside of the Exotic helmet. The new abilities and reworks are:

A new melee attack, Weighted Knife, deals increased damage to an enemy’s head. However, it winds up for a moment before being thrown. One-shot precision kills in PvP and precision kills in PvE recharge the ability instantly.
The new Knock ’em Down ability enables precision kills to improve weapon stability and ADS speed. The timer for this ability starts at 10 seconds, however, players can increase the time up to 25 seconds by getting additional kills. The Golden Gun Super offers extra damage when the ability has reached over 20 seconds. However, this bonus damage does not apply while using Celestial Nighthawk.
The Practice Makes Perfect buff for headshots lasts longer than usual and stacks quicker.
Line ‘em Up enables the Golden Gun to deal headshot damage and precision hits with the Golden Gun spawn Orbs of Light.

Code of the Devastator

Code of the Devastator will get an increase in damage dealt and reduction in Super energy costs. The reworks and new abilities are:

  • The Roaring Flame buff, activated by killing enemies with Solar abilities, will deal increased damage. The increased damage will be much higher in PvP.
  • Throwing Hammer deals more damage than usual and is simpler to pick up from the ground.
  • The Burning Maul Super will last 28.5 seconds instead of 21.2 seconds. The light attacks will also require less Super energy than usual and heavy attacks can sense airborne enemies.

Attunement of Sky

Bungie is aiming to rework Attunement of Sky to allow for a more aerial play style. However, it will nerf the Burst Glide speed while in Dawnblade. The new abilities are:

  • Celestial Fire, a new melee ability, sends out three explosive Solar projectiles towards enemies.
  • Heat Rises is a new passive ability that will allow Guardians to consume their grenade for a buff. While in the air, the Glide time will be longer with the Heat Rises buff active and weapons will be more accurate.
  • Winged Sun will enable players to use Celestial Fire, shoot weapons, and throw grenades without deactivating Glide. Players can also kill an enemy while in the air to gain melee energy and extend Heat Rises.
  • Icarus Rush is a midair dash that will send Guardians much farther than usual. It will cost less Super Energy when Heat Rises is active.
  • Bungie has also said that the Wings of Sacred Dawn Exotic will reduce damage while the Tomb of Dawn Exotic perk is active. Along with these, some non-Solar subclasses will get QoL improvements.
